Wealdstone winger Glen Little has left the club after deciding to move to Heybridge Swifts.

The former Burnley and Reading attacker was a key player for the Stones as they won the Ryman Premier Division title last season.

But Little has decided, for family and travelling reasons, to switch to the Ryman Division One North side.

Stones boss Gordon Bartlett said: “It’s always disappointing when a player of Glen’s quality moves on, but we must be grateful for his outstanding contribution both on and off the field last season. He was a shining example of the true professional he has been and was a massive influence on our success last year.

“His personal situation and the fact he is a year older and we have gone up a level have all been factors in the combined decision.

“After a long discussion, we both felt it was the right decision for everyone concerned. Glen is aware we need to continue building for the future which has made this a very amicable departure as both sides can see the others point of view.

“We thank him for his short but successful time with us and wish him every success as he joins his good friend at Heybridge Swifts.”

But the Stones’ planning for next season is already well underway with a group of players agreeing to stay at the Conference South club.

Popular Welshman Sean Cronin, who signed for Stones in August 2010, has committed his future to the club. He was a key member of their defence last season.

Full-back Jerome Okimo, who impressed after moving up from the Southern League with Chalfont St Peter, has also penned a new deal.

Jerome narrowly missed out on signing for Gillingham two seasons ago when a serious injury prevented his move from the Bucks club.

News of their contract agreements follows the recent confirmation that defenders Wes Parker and Tom Hamblin have signed new deals with the Stones.
