Harrow Borough slumped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat at struggling Enfield Town after a missed penalty proved costly in the Ryman Premier Division last night.

The Reds were held to a 1-1 draw at home to the Towners on Saturday, when Simeon Akinola scored their goal, but it was a frustrating return match at Donkey Lane.

Enfield made a bright start and forced Boro keeper James Shea into a couple of important saves.

But Town opened the scoring after 29 minutes after a mistake from Shea. He dropped the ball and Corey Whitely took full advantage as he fired into the empty net. It got worse for the visitors when Akinola was forced off before the break with an injury following a collision.

Boro went close on the break when Victor Osobu beat several defenders but he blasted his shot past the post.

The Reds wasted a chance to equalise from the spot late on but Osobu’s penalty was saved by Noel Imber.

Dave Anderson’s side will be looking to halt their run of five consecutive defeats on the road this weekend when they visit third bottom Thamesmead Town.
