Harrow Borough suffer home defeat to Bury Town

Harrow Borough suffered their third consecutive defeat after losing 2-0 at home to Bury Town in the Ryman Premier Division.

The Reds failed to find the net for the fourth match in a row after a disappointing performance at Earlsmead.

The hosts had a couple of early chances to take the lead but Callum Willock fired over before his effort was saved by Marcus Garnham.

This was as good as it got in the first half for Dave Anderson’s side and they fell behind in the 15th minute.

Rob Wolleaston failed to clear the ball after a Bury Town attack and the visitors took full advantage to open the scoring as Adam Bailey-Dennis netted from close range.

Boro had a couple of opportunities early on in the second half but Steve Butterworth fired over the bar while Wolleaston was denied by Garnham.

Manager Anderson was then sent from the touchline after the referee took exception to a comment he made.

It got even worse for the hosts when they were reduced to ten men when Daniel Cunningham robbed James Shea of the ball and the goalkeeper brought down his opponent in the area.

Shea was dismissed and Danny Leech was forced to take over in goal but the defender was unable to save Billy Clark’s penalty.

The Reds kept going and went close through Michael Peacock but his header was cleared off the line.

Boro will look to end their losing run at Billericay Town on Saturday before hosting Met Police on Boxing Day during the busy festive period.

Anderson’s side follow this up with a trip to highflying Kingstonian next Saturday when they will have to cope without the suspended Shea.
