Harrow Borough battled back for a hard earned 1-1 draw at Metropolitan Police in the Ryman Premier League.

Dave Anderson’s side fielded a new goalkeeper after Elvijs Putnins joined Conference Premier side Woking.

The Boro manager moved quickly to fill the void by bringing in Crystal Palace youngster Ross Fitzsimons.

The visitors conceded a poor goal after 14 minutes of the contest.

Ty Smith’s inswinging corner was tucked away by Steve Sutherland to give the Police a soft opener.

The Reds’ equaliser came out of the blue after half an hour.

Jon-Jo Bates forced the home defence into a sloppy mistake and Charles Ofusu-Hene latched onto the ball and fired a low shot into the net for his first goal for the club.

It was a very open second half and Boro threatened with a chance for Bates but his effort flew wide of the target.

The visitors had a scare when Michael Peacock’s clearance was charged down by Hanif Boyle but he fired past the post.

Boro came so close to shocking Police and getting a late winner but Saheed Sankoh’s effort was disallowed for offside.

Although the result moved Harrow one place up the table they are only a point off the foot of the table.

The Reds are scheduled to entertain Bury Town this weekend as they bid to climb away from the bottom of the league.
