Hendon suffer heavy defeat to Harrow
1:25pm Wednesday 28th November 2012 in Sport
After the success of last weekend’s victory over West London, Hendon were brought back down to earth after losing 48-7 to a dominant Harrow in Herts/Middlesex One.
Harrow started the game on the front foot and took the lead after only two minutes. A number of missed tackles by the Hendon team meant that Harrow were able to easily break through the defence to score the first try of the match. With the conversion successful Harrow led 7-0 in the opening stages.
After this early setback, Hendon decided to play defensively for the rest of the half but this had no success as a dominant Harrow were able to break through. This meant they were able to add a further three tries and a couple of penalties to lead 30-0.
During the half-time team talk, Hendon coach Chris Palmer had words with his side and this resulted in a change of gameplan as the forwards started to drive down into the Harrow half. Unfortunately for Palmer, Harrow's defence stayed strong and they were able to add to the scoreline with another try and conversion.
Hendon were still pushing forward and were able to get a try of their own as second row Paul Quinn found a way across the line from a rolling maul in the corner.
The game was more evenly matched but this did not stop Harrow adding two more penalties to increase the score.
Harrow managed to force their way over the line one more time as they picked up a sixth try of the game.
