Harrow Council’s Labour administration has shown an obsession with rolling back many of the most beneficial decisions taken under our previous administration.
However, one of the few things to escape Labour’s cuts is the investment we put into the council’s planning enforcement team. This extra money funded additional officers and has really paid dividends, with recent statistics showing a 223 per cent increase in the number of enforcement notices served.
This means more illegally built or extended properties are having action taken against them, which is positive news for neighbours and objectors.
The scaling-up of planning enforcement was done to improve the standard of service offered to Harrow residents. With the current Labour administration doing so much to undermine and reduce those services, I felt some good news might be in order.
