Voluntary Action Harrow has just launched a new project offering a range of micro-volunteering projects.

For those readers who don’t know, micro-volunteering is quick, easy and provides low-commitment action that delivers a huge benefit to a worthy cause.

It is when people give little bits of time on a one-off basis, such as signing petitions, stewarding at events, or counting wildlife in their gardens.

Called Pop-Up Harrow, the project aims to increase the number of people volunteering in the borough on a short-term basis.

It is being funded by Team London, the Mayor of London’s volunteering programme, and already has more than 150 people in Harrow who have expressed interest in volunteering with Harrow organisations in a variety of areas.

VAH will be working with local organisations to identify, develop and upload micro-volunteering opportunities to the Team London Volunteering website.

We will also be offering training to organisations, as well as creating a bank of graphic design and media virtual-volunteers.

This project gives residents a chance to try out a variety of different volunteering roles and the opportunity to build a variety of skills.

We’ll also be promoting local community groups, volunteering opportunities and aiming to work with Harrow’s educational institutions to give students a chance to work with local charities.

If you would like to know more please contact VAH by calling 020 88615 894 or by emailing volunteering@voluntaryaction harrow.org.uk
