Housing is the single biggest issue that residents get in touch with Harrow councillors about.

Whether its problems with damp, harassment by landlords, housing benefit problems, or just a lack of affordable homes, we deal with housing complaints on a daily basis.

There are lots of ideas and proposals being discussed all over the country about how to fix the nation’s housing crisis.

While there are lots of issues that need to be dealt with, the simple fact is that there are not enough affordable houses, particularly in London.

This is why new figures showing that Labour councils are building 83 per cent more affordable homes than Conservative and Liberal Democrat authorities are proof of Labour’s political priorities.

Harrow Borough Council, as a Labour-run authority, is playing its part, with architects soon to be appointed for the redevelopment on Grange Farm, the first bricks to be laid for a new council house building programme in the New Year, and discussions with the Greater London Authority and private partners on-going.

In total, this administration is looking at £1.7billion of investment into Harrow.

It’s clear that with housing we’re putting our money where our mouth is and are starting to take steps to ensure every person in Harrow can have a decent home to live in, in a neighbourhood they can be proud of.
