As we get into winter, my wife and I, being ‘pensioners’ living within easy reach of the excellent clinic in Alexandra Avenue, South Harrow, are greatly concerned that the walk-in hours remain limited to bank holidays and weekends, despite the alarming and worsening situation at Northwick Park A&E.

Sadly, one has little confidence that even when completed, the forthcoming improvements at Northwick Park A&E will be sufficient to meet ongoing local demands (irrespective of season) given the also incomprehensible decision to close similar departments at both Ealing and Central Middlesex Hospitals before Northwick Park was up and running, let alone tried and tested.

Harrow residents desperately need the Alexandra Clinic walk-in facility to be restored to as close to the initial seven days a week as is possible — and preferably 100 per cent.

Apparently, such decisions are primarily in the hands of the West London Clinical Commissioning group.

This needs to be sorted and immediately — with action, not just words or promises ( perhaps because a general election is looming).
