I live in Queensbury and regularly use Mollison Way shopping precinct.

Although parking is plentiful with two disabled parking bays, the car park is always fully occupied because it is free and some local garage owners use spaces to display cars for sale.

However, recently, the disabled parking bays were blocked by a possible abandoned or stolen car.

Although it was issued with parking offence notice and clamped, it was not removed for days, causing immense hardship.

In desperation, after I was unable to visit these shops for a week, I contacted the Harrow councillor for the ward requesting his assistance to free the spaces.

His response within hours came as a pleasant surprise, promising a swift action.

Not only was the offending car towed away, but all illegally parked cars received notices and some were clamped, with a promise that Harrow Borough Council would soon be installing metered parking with regular visits by traffic wardens.

No wonder parking is now easier and trade is picking up — to the delight of local shopkeepers.

I feel it is my duty to thank these three councillors who work as a team, as politicians in general receive a bad press.
