It is sad that the Tory opposition shows no sense it failed to gain legitimate control of Harrow Council while its leader is still failing to demonstrate she accepts the will of the people who did not want her to be leader of the council.

Therefore, what we are seeing is a trail of sour grapes comments and actions by Cllr Susan Hall — the latest being to call in the recent cabinet decision to restore the council’s chief executive post.

The defeated call-in notice challenged the cabinet decision on a key ground of ‘inadequate consultation with stakeholders prior to the decision’.

In October 2013, the then leader Cllr Hall launched a consultation with stakeholders on proposals to delete the chief executive post but did not even include the councillors in the consultation that led to the controversial deletion of the post of chief executive.

It is very concerning that those who demanded the call-in on the basis of ‘inadequate consultation' failed in seeking adequate consultation themselves.

Not only this, but by demanding the call-in sub-committee meeting on such a thin ground was a waste of council resources and public money.

It can only be good that the Harrow chief executive post, axed by the short-lived Tory administration last year, has been brought back.
