In your issue of September 18, Councillor Susan Hall criticises Harrow Borough Council’s options for dealing with the funding cuts imposed by the Government, which amount to £75million over four years (‘Budget cut proposals on this scale are disgusting’.) She says residents will suffer, but makes no suggestions about how this suffering could be ameliorated.

You would think that having been leader of the council in the past, she should give us some benefit from her experience.

It is plain that she is more interested in scoring political points than helping us through the severe cuts imposed by the mainly Conservative Government.

Although Cllr Hall deplores the appointment of a chief executive, if he can improve the efficiency of the council by only one per cent by better direction of effort, he will justify his salary many times over.
