Last month, 150 local families celebrated the achievements of Kumon students at the Kenton and Harrow Study Centre.
The children were presented with awards at a ceremony, which took place at Harrow High School, to celebrate their achievement of mastering maths and English beyond their current school level.
The Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Ajay Maru, attended and expressed his appreciation of how Kumon was providing support to raise the standards of education for students.
The Kumon study programmes are unique and are tailored to the needs of each child, giving them the means to realise their potential.
Many Kumon families find the programmes complement classroom learning, building speed and accuracy and helping to improve concentration, time management and problem-solving.
Above all, the programmes develop independent learning, ensuring that each child can study and learn for themselves.
As well as the large amount of awards received, one student, Arvind Raghu, aged ten, received the ‘J level’ completion award. He started Kumon when he was three and is now in Year 5, doing A-level maths topics.
He was a regional finalist for the Child Genius programme by Channel 4 and invited by Mensa UK to become a member.
The awards ceremony ended with a singing performance by one of the students and the cutting of a huge ‘Kumon’ cake.
