CALLING ALL POETS

We’re running a poetry competition for Harrow residents for World Poetry Day on the 21st March. You can write a poem on any subject and it can be any length. Rhyme or free verse? Serious or humorous? Parody of a song that you want to sing? Doesn’t matter, it’s your choice.

The competition is broken down to three different age groups, so you’ve a sporting chance no matter your age. You can find the entry form in any Harrow library and submit it to them by no later than 7th March.

The finalists will be invited to Harrow Arts Centre where they will perform their poem to an appreciative audience - so your family and friends can come along too.

You’ve probably read an article about the competition in this week’s Harrow Times.

I don't want some of you to think that you're too old to enter.  In the poetry society I run, some of our finest poets are of a mature age - over 90 to be precise! So no-one should feel they are too old to try.

We’ll let you know the results well before the 21st March and look forward to the task of judging some mighty fine poetry. I’m looking forward to meeting our finalists on World Poetry Day.

Good luck to you all.
