Harrow Times:

HEADSTONE MANOR MUSEUM

One of my favourite venues to perform poetry or to give a talk is Headstone Manor Museum in Pinner View, Harrow, HA2 6PX.

If you’ve not been there, I urge you to visit The Great Barn. It was built in 1506 and it is still able to ‘wow’ visitors today, 500 years later.

Restoration work is currently being carried out there and we have been using the adjacent building, The Granary, which was built in the 18th century and is now Grade ll-listed but started out as a cattle feed store.

Headstone Manor has a regular programme of Tuesday talks and on March 31, I will be reciting some of my humorous work under the title Have I Got A Poem For You!

I have always been relaxed about working at Headstone Manor as I’ve relied on Katie Major, the site officer, to make sure my Powerpoint presentations go without a hitch. I’ve been in equally good hands with the highly efficient Amanda Tristram, events & business officer, who has booked me to speak many times.

Sadly, both Amanda and Katie are leaving and I know that whoever follows them will have some mighty big shoes to fill (and no, girls, that’s not a personal comment about your feet!).

I look forward to meeting whoever succeeds both Katie and Amanda on March 31 and hope that Headstone Manor Museum continues to run as smoothly as it has under the conscientious and caring eyes of Amanda and Katie.
