Age UK Harrow was very pleased to invite Right Honourable Minister for Civil Society Nick Hurd MP to our offices in Harrow. The trustees and Chief Executive Avani Modasia raised a number of issues on how we can support older people and Mr Hurd was very positive in relation to Age UK Harrow's desire to work with all key agencies. Mrs Modasia discussed how important it was for the Health Service, local government and national government to explore new and exciting way of working with the charity sector.

Age UK Harrow was successful in winning a bid to coordinate support networks in Harrow. This exciting new innovative project called Community Click Network provides a membership offer to any citizen of Harrow over the age 18. The philosophy of our project is to hand back choice and control to vulnerable adults living in Harrow. The range of offers will include access and opportunities for members to engage and socialise. Our mission is to reduce isolation, increase wellbeing and to enable people to connect with local businesses and community organisations.

Mr Hurd (MP) also met three amazing young pupils Marianne,Shinee and Egondi, from St Francis de Sales School in Tottenham and agreed to visit their school and join their intergenerational lunch club. The children invite older people from Tottenham to joint them for lunch and this helps to reduce social isolation for local older people.

The staff and volunteers at Age UK Harrow are amazing and enjoyed meeting Mr Hurd, however not all of them were keen on having their photograph taken! Our volunteers are great ambassadors for Harrow's community sprit.
