An Edgware school will host a visit from the Queen, as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the borough, next month.

Krishna Avanti School in Camrose Avenue, will receive Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh, when the couple visit Harrow on March 29.

The event will play tribute to the Queen’s six decades on the throne and celebrate both London’s tradition and its growing diversity during her reign.

During their visit, the royal couple will enjoy dance music and demonstrations from community groups and schools to showcase Harrow’s diversity.

They will also be treated to the first performance of a musical score composed for the Diamond Jubilee by former Harrow High School pupils, and performed by singers from all of Harrow’s community choirs.

The Queen will also be presented with a book of 60 local faces, designed by council photographer Dermot Carlin.

Councillor Bill Stephenson, leader of Harrow Council, said: "We are all incredibly honoured that Harrow is one of the only three North London borough’s the Queen will visit to mark the Diamond Jubilee.

"It promises to be a momentous day and an opportunity for Harrow’s diverse community to share in the celebrations and commemorate her extraordinary reign."
