ENTRIES are being sought for a dog competition as one of the highlights of an annual summer show, sponsored by the Harrow Times, next weekend.

The Roxeth Show, in its 33rd year, will be held on Saturday, July 9, and Sunday, July 10, with attractions such as a colourful carnival parade, a funfair, quad bikes for children, Kidology dance group, food and crafts stalls, a bar and the Fun Dog show.

The show is run by the Harrow and Pinner Lions, formed in 1963, which carries out charity work in the area.

Groups including Harrow Community Police, Scout Groups, Feltham Sea Cadets, Race for Life, Harrow Libraries, Project 5000, South Harrow Residents Association and Harrow Fuschia Society will have stalls over the weekend.

The RSPCA will be running the Dog Show this year and will have information on rehoming and will provide vouchers for Identichipping and neutering.

The Dog Show will start at 12pm on Sunday and the cost per entry is £2 per dog per category or class with all proceeds going to the RSPCA London North West Branch.

Dogs can be booked in advance for the show's categories on Saturday for Sunday (see full list of categories below).

Lion President Juliette Davies said: “Categories include best rescue dog and through the Harrow Times we are asking readers to submit photos and stories of how they came about the rescue dogs, their history and what they like.

“The Dog Show is always a popular part of the day and we are pleased to bring it back this year.”

On Saturday the show will have the HA2CANDO Children’s Carnival, with an Olympic theme, arriving in the showground at 1.30 pm.

Isabella Hargrave, organiser of HA2CANDO, said: “Looking to 2012 we are thinking of the potential of everyone to achieve their dreams. With this in mind we have chosen a theme which reflects the Olympic ethos.

“Schools could concentrate on one aspect of sport or one particular body movement, or consider the history or cultural integration of the Olympics, the Olympics in London or the much talked about legacy that the Olympics will bring.

“We should anticipate London's involvement and seek to connect with the ethos of the Olympic dream and therefore the theme this year is Running, Jumping, Flying.”

Ms Davies added: “We will also have a children’s petting zoo on the Saturday courtesy of Appreciating Animals. The Agility Dogs will also be performing twice each day.

“Kidology will be giving two performances and two workshops on both days – one workshop is Hip Hop and the other is Zumba.

“We’re hoping it will be an exciting day for all the family and we have lots to offer so I hope everyone comes to enjoy the fun of the show.”
