School pupils are preparing for a carnival as part of a weekend of festivities at this year’s Roxeth Show.

The colourful carnival parade will be one of the highlights of the show, taking place on Saturday July 13 and Sunday July 14, on the Roxeth Recreation Ground, in South Harrow.

Hundreds of school children will be taking part in the HA2 Schools Carnival on the Saturday with youngsters performing at the park in colourful costumes.

Organiser Isabella Hargrave said: “Preparations are going well so far and all the schools are getting their parts of the carnival ready.

“All the children really enjoy themselves and get very excited in the build-up. It’s a great chance for all the schools to celebrate the community.

“We’re all looking forward to this year’s show and all we’re really hoping for is some nice weather after the heavy rain last year.”

The school carnival has been part of the Roxeth Show for the past eight years and features schools from the HA2 postcode including Weldon Park School, Earlsmead Primary school and Rooks Heath College.

This year’s theme for the carnival will be 'the listening corner', with schools dressing in costumes from fairy tales and nursery rhymes.

More than 100 children from the different schools will make their way from Weldon Park School to Roxeth Recreation Ground where some will perform to the crowds attending the show.

The annual show, is now in its 36th year, is organised by the Harrow and Pinner Lions and is sponsored by the Harrow Times.

As well as the school’s carnival, there will be a mixture of charity, local community and trade stalls throughout the weekend.

On the Sunday there will be the annual dog show, with organisers are calling for entries for the Best Rescue Dog category.
