A larger fun fair and performance stage are just some of the new activities for this year’s Roxeth Show.

The annual show, now in its 36th year, will be taking place on Saturday July 13 and Sunday July 14, on the Roxeth Recreation Ground, in South Harrow.

Work preparing for the event, sponsored by the Harrow Times, is well underway with stalls being and entertainment being booked.

The free two-day is organised by the Harrow and Pinner Lions which has organised the show since 1999 and this year is the organisation’s 50th birthday.

Organiser Juliette Davies said: “This really an event for the community by the community. And we hope this year will be quite special with it being the Lions 50th anniversary.

One thing we will be doing a bit differently this year is we want to encourage more young people to get involved.

That’s why we hope to have a small stage and performing area to give some local bands and dance groups the chance to perform.”

As well as the new attractions, there will be all the old favourites at the show including a mixture of charity, local community and trade stalls.

On the Saturday there will be HA2CANDO Children's Carnival with school children for across the borough performing in colourful costumes on floats.

And on Sunday there will be the annual dog show, with organisers are calling for entries for the Best Rescue Dog category.

Over the weekend there will also be free entertainment and Harrow Community Radio will also be getting everyone in the party mood with music and commentary.

Last year thousands of people turned out for the weekend’s events despite rain on the Saturday with families embracing the mud bath.
