Thousands gathered at fireworks displays over the weekend to celebrate Bonfire Night.

People from across Harrow donned their winter clothing before heading to official displays for evenings filled with fun, food, entertainment and colour.

A 21-minute ‘firework extravaganza’ wowed crowds in Byron Park, while a Hollywood themed set-up made everyone feel like a star.

David Silber, event producer, said it was the biggest and best evening they had ever put on.

He said: “We’re in our fifth year now and I think it’s fair to say that we’ve been getting bigger and bigger every time.

“The fireworks were the best we’ve ever had, we had loads of new stalls and there was different types of food from all over the world.

“Everyone had a fantastic time and we had lots of families who were there having fun.

“The police said that the whole event was well managed, which we were very pleased to hear, and a huge thank you must go out to our main sponsors Iceland.”

David’s words were backed-up by Caren Duhig, a Harrow resident who went to the display with her daughter, Cassie-Kai.

She explained how there was something for everyone and described the fireworks show as “absolutely brilliant”.

“It was great to see so many people there, including the Friends of Byron Park who are determined to keep this beautiful park clean and safe,” she said.

“It was a really nice evening with lots of stuff for the kids – we all had a great time.”
