Harrow Council is flying its flags at half-mast as a mark of respect to those killed in Nice last night.

At least 84 people were killed when a lorry ploughed through a crowd celebrating Bastille Day in the southern French city.

The driver of the lorry, named as local man Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, exchanged fire with police before being shot dead.

Harrow council tweeted: “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the attacks in Nice. Today we are flying the flag at half-mast.”

Harrow Times:

Leader of the council, Cllr Sachin Shah, said:

“We are all shocked and saddened by the tragic event which took place in Nice yesterday.

“Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the injured and the friends and families of the victims in this dreadful attack on innocent people. Harrow stands united with the people of France and condemns this attack.

“There is no place in our society for such hatred which only seeks to divide communities, and we will always reject all forms of hate crime.”
