SHOP assistants swapped the tills for for their aprons when they baked cakes for a cancer charity.
Staff at Selco Kingsbury raised more than £500 for Macmillan Cancer Support by selling cakes – and branch manager Rajesh Lalji shaved his head.
The efforts formed part of the charity’s Don’t Let Cancer Ruin Your Foundations campaign, which provides those in the construction industry with trusted information on the signs and symptoms of cancer.
Rajesh Lalji, branch manager at Selco Kingsbury, said: “We’re really proud to be supporting Macmillan’s new campaign through our activities in branch.
“I would like to thank everyone that got involved in the spirit of the day and donated so generously towards our very worthy cause.
“We speak to many customers and suppliers in the area on a daily basis, so we really are in a great position to raise awareness on this important topic.”
Chris Cunliffe, Selco chief executive, said: “It has been great to work in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support once more, helping to raise a substantial amount of money for the charity’s vital services.
“With the support of suppliers and thousands of customers visiting our branches every day, we are perfectly placed to support the charity’s campaign by raising awareness in the local community and also a substantial amount of money for charity.”
