VOLUNTEERING at a charity shop is much more than stacking shelves and tidying displays, as one social media star has shown.

Delia Cazzato has just celebrated her one year anniversary since she started volunteering at Oxfam in Bridge Street, Pinner.

From storytelling at Halloween to baking a variety of cakes and cookies, she has jumped fully on board life at Oxfam and got involved in all aspects of helping to fund the charity.

Mrs Cazzato volunteers two hours a day, Monday to Friday, both in the shop and online – a routine she has chosen to fit around her daily routine as a mother of two young boys.

She said: “It has lifted my spirits and given me a new lease of life, away from being a busy mum of two boys and as a carer.”

An average day for Delia begins by taking cash to the bank, putting out new clothes and checking rails if overcrowded, before hoping on the tills and organising displays.

On top of this, from morning to night Delia helps the Pinner store connect to other Oxfam shops around the country and abroad via twitter.

Giuseppe Marasco, Oxfam Pinner’s social media and events manager, says that Delia’s role shows how flexible volunteering with the charity can be.

He said: “Oxfam Shops very much are like village hubs and Delia contributes to that friendliness and magic.

“Delia particular likes the public engagement- that the shop can be like a village hub for people to meet and chat with the staff, back room opportunities are also available for those less inclined.

“I'm particularly keen that Delia’s story inspires other parents with the flexible hours that you can have at Oxfam.

“The social media team is dynamic, fun and a very supportive group - very popular for those looking to build careers in marketing and events.”

Soon Ms Cazzato will also be self-publishing a book of Fairtrade recipes with the help of her graphic designer husband Danny Cazzato.

Many of her cake recipes can now be found on the shop blog at http://oxfampinner.blogspot.co.uk/
