A police officer has been dismissed after facing allegations of harassing women in the street.

At a gross misconduct hearing, Harrow-based PC Rishi Kapoor, 41, was found to have “breached the standards of professional behaviour in respect of discreditable conduct and authority, respect and courtesy”.

Between 2007 and December 2009 it was alleged that on a number of occasions PC Kapoor had approached a woman he did not know in the street and engaged her in unwarranted conversation.

On two occasions while off duty in 2012 and 2013, he also approached another woman he did not know and engaged her in unwarranted conversation.

The allegations came to light following a complaint from the women relating to inappropriate comments about their appearances and other harassing behaviour.

The misconduct panel found the allegations proven as gross misconduct and PC Kapoor was subsequently dismissed.
