An unemployed builder who was caught on camera dumping waste in the street has been found guilty.

Gheorge Trandafir, of Clydesdale Ave, Stanmore, was caught on CCTV dumping six bags of waste from his property into residential bins belonging to Canons Court, Edgware.

He was caught after households tipped off council environmental compliance officers, who discovered six bags of waste, along with paperwork leading them back to Mr Trandafir’s address.

During questioning Trandafir said that he paid £40 to an ‘unknown person’ to take his waste away and that one of his friends had agreed to allow him to dump the waste.

However once presented with the CCTV evidence and reports from neighbours he admitted dumping the waste.

The 41-year-old was found guilty and ordered to pay £885 in costs and fines at Willesden Magistrates Court on August 18.

Councillor Graham Henson, responsible for the environment, said: “Thanks to vigilant local residents and council officers this man has now been punished for illegally dumping waste.

“Despite having his own rubbish bin this man thought he could select another bin in the borough to dump his six bags of rubbish.

“The detective work of council officers led them straight back to this man and he has now been hit with a hefty fine. “
