CARS have been left abandoned and a person was trapped with their newborn baby during today's flash floods.

After this week’s downpours, roads across the borough have been closed off and left a number of people trapped thanks to flooding.

In North Harrow, cars appear to have been abandoned with water higher than the tops of tyres.

Police and London Fire crews are in attendance at Headstone Drive, near Harrow Crown Court, due to the deep flood water.

So far the fire service have received more than 80 flood related calls across the capital today, particularly from North London.

A spokesperson from the Brigade’s control office, said: “We are experiencing an extremely high volume of calls.

“If you’re waiting to be rescued, please remain calm, firefighters will be with you as soon as they’re able to.”

Incidents include several properties being flooded on one road in Harrow and a person trapped with a newborn baby in a home in Harrow.

A number of tube lines have also been affected, with severe delays between Queen's Park and Harrow & Wealdstone due to earlier flooding at Kenton.

A number of people have taken to social media to react to the extreme weather conditions.
