HARROW council has apologised after a Twitter account for a volunteer project was caught following a page featuring bestiality.
Harrow council's Community Champions project was set up to encourage volunteers to sign up and help their community by tackling crime or identifying health and safety concerns.
But the Twitter page associated with the project has come under fire after it was found to be following an account based in Indonesia which published images containing hardcore animal pornography.
The @champions_help account has since stopped following the page and Harrow council has apologised for the mistake.
A spokesman said: “This was an unfortunate mistake where an account was followed by accident.
“As soon as the error was found it was immediately fixed.
“We apologise for the mistake and we have tightened up our social media processes since this incident.”
