SEVEN men have been arrested after a teenager was stabbed after a suspected gang-related brawl.

The seven men, all aged 16 to 24, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent after a brawl erupted in Palmerston Road, Wealdstone. early on Thursday, July 16.

Two teenagers, both aged 19, were treated in a north London hospital. Police said one had been stabbed and the other had slash wounds.

Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

Officers from the Met’s Trident Gang Command are investigating.

Local traders feel frustrated by the brawl and say it is the latest in a series of problems.

Noors Hair Stylists manager Muhammad Shakeel said he is trying to sell his shop in High Street,Wealdstone, due to trouble in the area.

He has seen groups of young people fighting and shouting in the street, but did not see the latest incident. He has bought another shop in Rayners Lane and once business is sustainable there, he says he will close the Wealdstone shop.

He added: “It is very bad something like this is happening in this street. Every time this happens, it is not good for business.

“Between 2002 and 2007, this area slowly deteriorated.

“There are about eight or nine flats above the shops and if they leave after a few months, they will tell you it is because there is fighting, shouting and young people swearing in the street at midnight.”

According to the Police.uk website, there were nine offences in the High Street, near Palmerston Street, in May.

Crimes include four violent or sexual offences, one drug-related offence, one criminal damage or arson offence, shoplifting, a public order offence, and theft.

Another trader, who asked not to be named, said when he arrived at the shop police had closed off the road and he heard “someone had been killed”.

He said: “I am not worried as I see this sort of thing all the time.

“I have complained to the police saying there are young people out the front of the shop. Every day, there are groups standing outside the door, from 10am until 12pm.”

The seven men taken into custody have since been bailed to dates in August and September.

Sergeant PJ Jones of Wealdstone Proactive Team said: “Police have increased patrols and currently there is a knife amnesty bin outside Holy Trinity Church, Wealdstone.

“Police conduct regular weapons searches.”
