The Mayor of London warned against taking the capital "back to the 1970s" when he launched the Conservatives' Plan for London.

During a 20-minute speech in Stanmore, Mayor Boris Johnson outlined the Conservative Party’s vision for the capital.

The Mayor said the Tory plan means more jobs and investment in London, further steps to increase housing supply and confirming a record £10 billion investment in transport to connect London better and attract new jobs and investment.

He said: “Londoners will know that we have started rebuilding our economy and our city – with unemployment down, employment up to record highs, and more and more opportunities for young people, with 190,000 already started apprenticeships.

“We are investing in a modern transport system to make life easier for hard working people and business; and building a record number of new homes while protecting the greenbelt.

“It would be bonkers to put that plan at risk and take London back to the 1970s.”

Also present at the launch were Hannah David, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Harrow West, and Bob Blackman, the Conservative Candidate for Harrow East.

Following the launch, Mrs David said: “London has made remarkable progress under this Conservative-led Government. I want to ensure that Harrow receives the investment it needs to keep pace with ever growing demand for housing and that our local NHS is properly funded”

“The Mayor’s speech today outlined a clear plan for London. Under this plan, the future will be bright for Harrow.

"If I am elected as the MP for Harrow West I will fight to make sure that we receive the funding that we need to secure the future for our community.”
