Councillors are due to approve the expansion of a primary school - despite opposition from the public.
Harrow Council’s cabinet is to meet this evening to discuss the school expansion programme, which includes plans for the expansion of Longfield Primary School, in Dukes Avenue, North Harrow.
Like many boroughs, Harrow has had a big increase in the number of children applying for school places and has had to expand schools.
The agenda for tonight’s meeting states that councillors will be recommended to approve proposals to expand the North Harrow primary school by one form - or 30 pupils - by this September.
A consultation about the proposal was held from January 8 to February 5, with 46 per cent of the 24 respondents to the consultation disagreeing with the council’s proposal and one third agreeing.
The proposal also has the support of the governing body.
Also on the agenda, councillors are being recommended to adopt the West London Waste Plan and grant permission for the authority to enter into a new facilities management contract.
A report from the libraries scrutiny review is also to be discussed.
The meeting will be held tonight from 6.30pm in committee rooms one and two, at the civic centre.
