Most children aspire to be like their superheroes – but a group of people are taking that to the next level by dressing up as them for a charity race.

Lyndsay Roger, of Whitehall Road, Harrow, will don her costume and cape and run 10km through Regents Park in May to raise money for Children with Cancer UK.

The 24-year-old administrator has put her powers to good use by encouraging her colleagues at Woodwards Estates, in Harrow-on-the-Hill, to take part in the race with her.

She will be joined Stephen Cornish, the managing director at Woodward Chartered Surveyors, and Chris Frimley, senior sales consultant for Woodward Estate Agents.

Ms Roger said: “I know the run will be tough because I’m not exactly a gym goer and I’ve never done anything like this before.

“At the end of the day it might be difficult on my side but I know that it will be nothing in comparison to what the children with cancer go through.

“All in all, I am really excited. It’s going to be great.”

Woodward Estates have set themselves a goal of raising £6,000 for CwC UK throughout 2015, and this is one of many activities the trio have planned for the coming year.

The company has been supporting the charity for the past 20 years but decided to go “all out” this year.

Mr Cornish will only be running 5km due to an old knee injury and has been training at the gym three times a week.

She added: “I’ve been very complacent and not started training yet but intend to stop being a couch potato and start soon.

“My friends think it’s hilarious but they’re very supportive. Unless I stumble and fall, it should be a great race.”
