A prolific drug dealer has been jailed for more than five years.

Abdikane Ismail, 27, of Whittlesea Road, Harrow, was sentenced to five years and six months' imprisonment at Harrow Crown Court on Monday after admittting three counts of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

On Wednesday, February 4, officers were carrying out routine patrols when they saw two men approach a car parked in Bowen Road, Harrow.

Officers approached the car as the men left and spoke to the occupant of the car, who they recognised as Ismail.

They noticed he was trying to conceal a mobile phone under the seat and asked him to step out of the car.

As he did, they saw him discard several wraps of drugs underneath the car and arrested him on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

A further searched revealed that he had 37 wraps of crack and heroin in his possession.

Ismail was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs. He pleaded guilty on Friday, February 27 at Harrow Crown Court.

He also admitted two previous charges of possession with intent to supply class A drugs in July 2014, after he was stopped in a vehicle in Grange Park Close, South Harrow, on July 16 attempting to discard 40 wraps of crack and heroin that were hidden in his trouser leg.

He was charged with possession with intent to supply class A but pleaded not guilty and was released from Harrow Crown Court on an electronic tag.

Ismail was then stopped again by police on July 31 last year in Whitby Road, South Harrow, after he was seen throwing something out of the window of a moving car. Officers discovered 42 discarded wraps of crack and cocaine.

He was charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs and remanded for this offence, again entering a not guilty plea and being released from court on an electronic tag.

PC Mary Hogan of Harrow Police said: "This is a great result for the community of Harrow and another example of the extent that Harrow Police will go to rid the streets of those intent on selling drugs.

“Ismail was known to use local drug users to drive him around while he continued to sell drugs on the streets of Harrow.

“Our pursuit against criminality is relentless as we aim to make Harrow the safest borough in London."
