Inspired by his grandmother, a Kenton schoolboy has helped raise money for people living with dementia.

Sinai Jewish Primary School pupil Roni Berman enlisted the help of family and friends as he kicked off his fundraising events for health and social care provider Jewish Care.

Along with sister Mirit, and schoolmates Joshua and Olivia Waller and Melissa Ordever, Roni decided to set up a stall at school to sell Jewish Care purple thread bracelets and branded trolley coins - raising £142 in two afternoons.

Year 6 pupil Roni said he was inspired to fundraise for Jewish Care by his grandmother, who has Alzheimer’s disease and attends the Sam Beckman Centre for People Living with Dementia in Hendon.

Mother Leora Berman said: “I’m very proud of Roni and so are his teachers - he’s been so enthusiastic and it was all his idea.

“He’s been explaining to his friends about what it means to have dementia and why it’s so important for his grandma to be able to go to the centre, which makes her days more meaningful.”
