A nightclub run by and for disabled people has celebrated its tenth anniversary.
More than 130 people attended Changes Nightclub, which is held once a month in the Red Brick Cafe, in High Street, Wealdstone, to mark the milestone last week.
The club night is run in collaboration with Harrow Association for Disabled People (HAD) and gives those with disabilities from across the borough and beyond a place to socialise and meet other people.
Development officer from HAD Umesh Raichada said: “It was a fantastic night and it was great to have so many people along all having a good time.
“It has been a lot of work to get to the club night to this point and I’m really proud we have been able to keep it going.
“The evening is an important event in the diary for so many people with disabilities and they always look forward to the next night. It’s just safe environment for them to meet people and some fun.”
HAD director Nigel Long said: “I salute all the volunteers and HAD staff for all the hard work and dedication for achieving ten years in running such a great club.
“We have some great DJs with a wide choice in music resulting in a good get together with dancing and fun. Having a great night out is really important.”
“I believe the next ten years will be as good as the last ten years.”
Since its first night in 2004, Harrow’s Changes Nightclub was one of the first of its kind in London and still is the only one in north west London.
