Police carried out raids this morning to strike at the heart of drug dealing in Harrow.

Officers stormed the Rayners Lane address of a suspect believed to be one of the main suppliers of class A and class B drugs in Northolt Road, South Harrow.

The raid was at the start of the Harrow police’s secure streets day of action in collaboration with Harrow Borough Council.

The suspect was not at the home in Rayners Lane but after searching the address officers did find weighing scales, a storage box and drug pricing book.

Sergeant Simon Fretwell said: “Sometimes for us it is not all about the arrests. Today is about reacting to the concerns of the public about drug dealing and antisocial behaviour.

“The fact is we are one of the safest boroughs in London but we want to show people we are committed to dealing with their concerns and enforcement.”

Sergeant Tom Mackin from Roxeth policing team said: “The biggest complaints I get from residents is about drugs and anti-social behaviour.

“We have been taking action and over the past two months we have made about 80 arrests in and around Northolt Road.

“For us the secure streets is about being visible on the streets, a chance for us to engage with the community more and tell them about the action we have taken.”

Harrow police have been running the secure streets enforcement with Harrow Council since November last year, which has included ten days of action.

There have been a total of 100 arrests from the operation days, which have taken place in targeted areas of the borough including Wealdstone, Edgware, Harrow town centre and Rayners Lane.

Throughout the day council officers, trading standards and London Fire Brigade will also be out and about in South Harrow.
