Intrepid brothers cycled between some of the world’s most historic war memorials to raise money for fallen soldiers.

Jonny Ellis, of Whitehall Road, Harrow, and his older brother Chris Ellis, of West Watford, spent three weeks cycling from London to Berlin for the Royal British Legion.

Their 1,000 mile trip took them along the Western Front battlefields of the First World War, including Dunkirk, Bruges, Ypres, Arras, the Somme, Aisne and Verdun.

The brothers eventually ended up at the historic Brandenberg Gate, in the heart of the German capital, after a tiring but “amazing” trek.

During their trip, Jonny, 26 and Chris, 28, camped out in fields and spent the night in hotels, raising £1,206 for the charity.

They also visited the castle that inspired the setting for the Walt Disney cartoon film Snow White.

Chris said: “The hardest bit was climbing a steep hill through Germany and I suddenly felt a bit knackered. I think I was lacking vitamin c, but the trip was incredible and well worth it.”
