Sixth form students had the chance to quiz an MP when they visited the Houses of Parliament.

Around 90 government and politics students from St Dominic's Sixth Form College, Mount Park Avenue, joined MP Bob Blackman for a tour of the historic site.

The trip, which was organised by head of politics Charles Barrowcliff, gave students the chance to see both the House of Lords and House of Commons and then question Mr Blackman during an open debate.

Mr Barrowcliff said: “Our students were delighted to have the opportunity to meet Bob Blackman MP and were very grateful for the time he gave to discussing the issues that matter most to them.

“We hope to return the favour by hosting Mr Blackman at the college in the near future.”

Mr Blackman added: “It’s always a pleasure to engage with students who have such a keen interest in current affairs and the debate was certainly a lively one.”
