Schoolchildren representing Harrow were crowned champions of London for the second time at a mini Paralympics.

The team from schools across the borough won the final of the annual London Panathlon multi-sport final at the Copper Box Arena at London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Harrow battled it out against teams from across London in a range of sports including boccia, table cricket, new age kurling, polybat and athletics to win the championship for the second year in a row.

Rob Manning, a teacher at Whitmore High School, said: “It feels awesome to win and retain our trophy – the children have absolutely loved today.

“If it wasn’t for Panathlon the children wouldn’t be able to take part in competitive sporting activities. I would encourage every school to take part in a Panathlon Challenge.

“Our pupils are so lucky to be able to get involved in sport and be part of a team and a competition like this it’s just fantastic.”

Panathlon is a charity providing sports competition to more than 3,000 disabled children in schools across London and the South East.
