St George's Catholic Primary School in Harrow pupils pick up film prize
Primary school pupils won top prize for their work behind the camera making an anti-bullying film.
The Year 6 pupils at St George's Catholic Primary School in Harrow have won first prize in a national filmmaking competition this week from the education charity, Into Film.
The crew, who are all part of the schools film club won £200 worth of filmmaking equipment from the charity including a green screen and studio quality microphone.
The school’s film focuses on a young girl called Ruta from Lithuania who is new to the school and is bullied when she arrives but is helped by Anti-Bullying Man who contacts the headteacher.
Film club teacher Madeleine Rands said: “As a school, we regularly explore the theme of anti-bullying and the Into Film competition was an opportunity to make a film we could show to the whole school.
“It was a great experience, everyone had so much fun making it - all the retakes and giggles during the shoot made it a real group activity.
“The film club members wrote the entire script and chose the title and they had fun choosing the music and background sounds.
“Projects like this help young people to develop their literacy, creativity and team-working skills.”
