A charity fighting the battle against brain tumours raised more than £2,000 with a clay pigeon shoot.

Supporters of Harrow charity Ali’s Dream took part in the event last week raising money for national charity Brain Tumour Research.

Geoff French from North Harrow and his team The French Connection fiercely defended their ‘novice team’ trophy for the second year in a row.

Stanmore couple Julie and Gary Phelan founded the charity Ali’s Dream after losing their daughter Alison to a brain tumour three weeks before her eighth birthday in 2001.

The event took place at Padbury Hill Farm, near Buckingham, and raised a total of £2,258.

The money will go towards new collaborative partnerships set up by the charity Brain Tumour Research and three research centres of excellence.

Mrs Phelan, who is a trustee of the charity, said: "It was great to see so many of our loyal supporters who turn up year after year joined by so many newcomers.

"We are grateful for the loyal support of the ‘guns’ and beaters of Padbury Hill Farm’s shoot syndicate who offer up their time to provide instruction. We couldn’t put this event on without them.

"Everyone seemed to have a great time, whilst supporting vital research into childhood brain tumours.

"No parent should lose their child and no child should lose their parent – brain tumours kill more children and adults under 40 than any other cancer and we won’t stop until we find a cure."
