A school has been named as one of the best in the country for pupil progress in national tests.

Whitefriars Community School, in Whitefriars Avenue, Wealdstone, has been recognised with an SSAT Educational Outcomes Award for its pupils' achievements in the Key Stage 2 tests.

The school is in the top 20 per cent primary schools nationally for progress made by pupils between Key Stage 1 tests at age seven and Key Stage 2 at 11.

Chief executive of SSAT Sue Williamson said: "Whitefriars Community School should be congratulated for their exceptional achievement.

"There is so much good practice that this school could share, and I hope many schools will join us at the celebration ceremony for the chance to network and share strategies with award-winning schools.

"These results are testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Whitefriars Community School, and show what can be achieved when skilled teachers have high expectations and ambition for every child."
