An MP says residents' views were ignored after plans for new homes and a supermarket on the site of a former day care centre were approved.

Harrow Borough Council’s planning committee agreed the plans for Anmer Lodge, in Stanmore which will include 120 homes and a Marks & Spencer supermarket.

Following the decision MP Bob Blackman said: “I submitted a reasoned objection and it appears that the committee has completely ignored all the concerns voiced by residents and other objectors.

“This development is too large for the local infrastructure and does not make provision for increased traffic to the site, which is only accessible by a narrow road with a lot of residential homes.

“I am very disappointed that this gross overdevelopment has been approved by Labour and Independent Labour Councillors.

"There is a need for more housing in Harrow but that is no excuse to ignore serious warnings and to press ahead without requesting alternative options to maintain a sustainable traffic flow and a community friendly volume of housing on the site.”
