The Harrow Times can reveal some of the restaurants and takeaways in the borough with the lowest hygiene ratings.

According to the Food Standards Agency website, a total 19 restaurants have been awarded one out of a possible five in their latest inspections, meaning the restaurants are in major need of improvement.

The five most recently inspected by Harrow Borough Council are:

Harrow Times:

Harrow CoffeeTime, of the Quadrant Headstone Gardens.

The cafe, serving Sri Lankan food and English breakfasts, was last inspected on October 29 last year. When the Harrow Times visited the shop for a comment the no-one was available for comment and the establishment appeared to be closed.

Harrow Times:

K5 Lounge Restaurant, in Love Lane, Pinner, was given a rating of one at its inspection on September 30, 2013.

Speaking to the Harrow Times, the manager of the restaurant said since the inspection staff had training and standards had improved.

Harrow Times:

The Peking Garden Take Away, in Marsh Road, Pinner was last inspected on January 27 this year. When approached, nobody was available for comment about its low hygiene rating.

Harrow Times:

UK Expert Pizza & Grill, in Honeypot Lane Stanmore, was given its low rating on December 4, 2013. No-one was available to give the Harrow Times a comment when asked.

Harrow Times:

Warsi Restaurant & Takeaway in Streatfield Road, Harrow, was last inspected on September 17 last year.

The manager of the restaurant told the Harrow Times that since they were inspected all chefs and staff have been through a food hygiene course and health and safety training.

He added standards were much higher and he was hoping to get organise another inspection soon.

Hygiene ratings are ranked 0 to 5.

4 - Good

5 - Very good
