Princess Eugenie will be visiting a hospital next week to open a new children’s unit.

The Princess of York is a patron of The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital’s (RNOH) Charity Redevelopment Appeal and will help open the new children’s high dependency unit.

The unit has been paid for by donations from the appeal and will mark the latest stage in the redevelopment of the hospital.

It will have a separate entrance to the adult unit, and will be situated very close to the hospital’s operating theatres, dramatically reducing the transfer time of patients.

Princess Eugenie had corrective surgery at the hospital in Stanmore after being diagnosed with scoliosis when she was 12-years-old.

Paediatrician and children's service director Benjamin Jacobs said: “The opening of this unit marks a key milestone for the hospital and will help to further enhance the world class care and treatment we provide to our patients every day.

“We’re all very excited about Princess Eugenie’s visit; she has been a dedicated patron for the charity appeal since 2012. We are so grateful for her continued support.”

The redevelopment appeal aims to raise £15 million to pay for additional facilities and equipment for the hospital which is currently undergoing £90million redevelopment.
