Harrow businesses learn how to keep their workforce healthy
Employers learnt about how to keep their workforce healthy to help save money as part of a London-wide scheme.
Harrow Borough Council hosted the launch of the London Healthy Workplace Charter last week.
The charter helps employers improve health and safety information at their workplace, including hosting stop smoking sessions and activities to improve physical fitness and mental health.
The scheme helps companies gain three levels of qualification which will help their profile as an employer and possibly save them money in the long run.
Research from the Greater London Assembly shows on average a London firm of 250 employees loses around £4,800 per week due to sickness absence.
Cabinet member for health Cllr Simon Williams said: “Healthy employees often make for a happy workplace and businesses can play their part in boosting the wellbeing of their staff.”
