An MP has welcomed the announcement primary schools will continue to receive money for PE lessons and sports coaches.

Harrow East MP Bob Blackman made the comments after the Prime Minister announced the Primary PE and Sport Premium will continue until 2020.

The pot of cash will mean between now and 2020 primary schools in Harrow East will get £1,282,368 for PE lessons to get more children into sport.

The MP for Harrow East said: “It is great news for young people in our area that this Government has committed £150 million a year to securing the Olympic and Paralympic legacy in our primary schools.

“This will help to create an education system that gives young people who want to work hard the skills they need to get on in life and have a more secure and better future.”

Under the scheme schools in the area will receive £213,728 for the current school year.
