Independent Labour candidates for the forthcoming elections have begun campaigning.

Nominated candidates standing for the Roxeth ward in the Harrow Borough local elections, which take place on May 22, have pledged to fix potholes and support adults with learning disabilities.

Former council leader Thaya Idaikkadar, who has been a Roxeth councillor since 2002, says he hopes to continue serving the people of Roxeth.

Zarina Khalid, who has a psychology degree from Warwick University, has lived in Harrow all her life.

The project manager, who became a Harrow councillor in 2010, has held a number of council positions, including cabinet member for schools and families.

And Sukhi Singh Mukhal, who has lived in Roxeth for 35 years, is a restaurateur who claims he knows the community well.

He is passionate about charities and regularly collects money for St Luke’s Hospice, in Harrow, and for victims of the Indian earthquake and floods.
