The Independent Labour group has announced its first batch of candidates for this year’s local elections.

Cllr Thaya Idaikkadar, Cllr Zarina Khalid and Sukhi Singh Mukhal will all be standing for the group in Roxeth Ward in May’s elections for Harrow Borough Council.

Independent Labour are the first political party to announce candidates for the elections, two of whom are currently members.

Mr Mukhal, who is relatively new to Harrow politics, has lived in the ward for 35 years and runs a nearby restaurant.

The Independent Labour group, led by Cllr Idaikkadar, was formed after the ruling Labour party split in May last year.

The group took control of Harrow council cabinet until September when the Conservative group led by Cllr Susan Hall took control.
