The announcement the borough will get more money for school places has been welcomed by an MP.

Bob Blackman has welcomed the announcement Harrow will receive almost £20million from the government to help create more school places.

The money, which is for 2014 and 2017, is part of an extra £2.35 billion the government has announced for more places across the whole country.

The MP for Harrow East said: “It is great news for young people in Harrow that this Government has found billions of extra funding to ensure every child has a place at school so that they can fulfil their potential.

“This is part of our long-term plan to create an education system that gives young people who want to work hard the skills they need to get on in life and have a more secure and better future.”

Money is already being spent Harrow Borough Council to expand primary schools in the area with work on the second phase of expansion well under way.
